Uhm, Linux is Linux. Have a read of this: [en.wikipedia.org] - see if you can spot the difference between that and the Wii's System Menu.

Well, you would boot into the Linux OS, and then it would look like a computer desktop. It will not affect the Wii Menu. But if you don't know what Linux is, it will probably be a desktop you are not familiar with. I reccommend downloading an Ubuntu Live CD and running it on your computer to familiarize yourself with it. It will not make any changes to your hard drive, unless you tell it to.

It depends what you want to do. If you want to play Wii games and VC/WW channels etc., then no, because it can't do those things. If you want to run a wealth of applications, such as word processors, internet browsers, media players, development tools, etc. etc., then yeah. But only applications like that developed for Linux. (Windows programs will NOT work).

Linux and the standard Wii Menu can co-exist perfectly, as the Linux is on the SD card. It can't run Windows or Mac applications, but nonetheless has many applications which you can use.

Kezza, it doesn't replace your Wii OS. it's just an operating system you can run from the wii. It won't do your normal wii stuff. It's not like you are upgrading your Wii OS and replacing it with something else.
