FCE Ultra GX GameGenie need help making .nes file a .rom

For some reason when I load gg.rom it goes to a grey screen in fce ultra gx. It turns out it is freezing when loading the gg.rom file. But I can't find any forum post mentioning this, or how to fix it.
EDIT: Found out the rom file is corrupted, I just need to figure out how to change a .nes file to a .rom file without corrupting.
