wired wii sensor question

Does the wire in the 'wired' version of the wii sensor bar only supply power? Or does it have some sort of data use as well.

If it's just power, does anybody now what voltage it is?

nope, it is ONLY power in that tiny little cord...

I don't know the exact voltage, but you can power it with just 3 volts. So you can make your own "wireless" one...


What it does is send off infrared light that the wiimote picks up and uses for navigation.

You really don't even need the sensor bar (well you do but not exactly). I've had my wiimote get detected by pointing it at the light in my room...

Afaik the Wii can control the sensor bar (perhaps via swithcing it off and on in short succession). Can't even the japanese TV-Channel use it to control TVs?

It's 12 volts. Only supplies power. Yes, the Japanese TV channel can modulate it to send out IR remote control codes.
