I do believe a functioning home menu that actually mimics the feel and function of the real one would benefit basically every app. Trying to force standards on amateur programmers and enthusiasts though is kind of doomed to failure. Perhaps a set of suggested guidelines and resources to meet those guidelines however would not be. It would be nice to have a set of libraries for handling thingby DimensionWarped - Homebrew General
Not to mention tactile feedback with motors has been around in arcades since the early 90s.by DimensionWarped - Homebrew General
Actually, Anascape pretty much went after everyone with more than one analog stick. Classic and GC wired controllers took a hit too. If the two analog controls is what it's about, that's remarkably stupid. I think I'm going to go patent the idea of having a fifth face button and 5 or more trigger buttons on a controller. In fact, I'm going to patent the idea of having moreby DimensionWarped - Homebrew General
According to the in-development page on the Wiki, someone is working on a Wii Mugen. Whether or not they are actually doing anything or not is anyone's guess.by DimensionWarped - Homebrew General
There are actually a large number of patents being disputed. 6 degrees of movement isn't one of the ones that got upheld (otherwise the Wii Remote and Nunchuk would be the real dispute here) and the idea of actually being able to have a patent on a mere concept of something that has been actively pursued all over tech industries is just absurd. It's obvious by the ruling of the bullshby DimensionWarped - Homebrew General
But Sony had it's dual analog set up back in the late 90s. I don't see how they could be the target of a year 2000 patent.by DimensionWarped - Homebrew General
Did they ever actually say what element of the controller Nintendo infringed on? I know it's not the fact that its wireless, since if that were the case, the classic controller would be exempt. I know it can't be the fact that it has a certain method for analog stick response... because if that were the case, the original GC controller and the Wii remote woudln't be exempt. Can't wait to play Commander Keen on my Wii :P The ultimate irony here is that it all started as a proposal to bring SMB3 to PC... so things just kind of pull a 180 if we ever get a Wii version of DosBox.by DimensionWarped - Coding
Huh. So they nerfed their own USB ports? That seems absolutely bizarre to me...by DimensionWarped - Coding
Ok, so for all of the media players I've messed with so far, it seems like reading from a USB thumb drive is really slow for some reason regardless of the speed of the USB device. If I'm not mistaken though, your typical USB thumb device reads significantly faster than your typical SD card. In fact, the write speed of the one I'm using is around 14 MegaBytes per second (though trby DimensionWarped - Coding
What do you have in mind? Kinda hard to say I'd like to get involved without knowing :P Though I'm rather green under the gills at this anyway...by DimensionWarped - Coding
I take it that the associated code for it is just part of the commercial SDK then eh? I guess a homebrew mimicry of the same thing wouldn't be too hard to make... though it would be a pain in the ass to get people to adopt it as a standard. And you could add a button on screen to go back to the loader used rather than to the Wii main menu. By the way, hi. I'm DW. I've takeby DimensionWarped - Coding
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but is there any way of accessing and using the Wii's standard home menu? I haven't seen any homebrew thus far to do that, and I'm wondering if it's something that would be accessed in a similar way to any other recurring Wii functionality like the channel graphics for wads. I'm probably missing something fundamentalby DimensionWarped - Coding
