I don't see why not. That's what I did. Actually burned the nand.bin file along with the bootmii directory to a cd to store away in case of emergencies. Now if it copied the blocks bit for bit to the SD card rather than as a file on the fat32 FS (like I originally thought was going to be when it wanted to format the card), it'd be a different story. But looks like it's ok tby cr08 - BootMii Beta

So this is a bit of a conundrum I have fallen into. I've grabbed and sucessfully compiled Segher's wii.git tools in an attempt to examine some save files I have laying here. Initially I had a problem of it not finding the key files until I realised it was looking for them in a hidden '.wii' folder in the home directory. tossed the key files there and all's good for that.by cr08 - Homebrew Applications
@strongfan: Most of what you have posted are really nitpicks and really should not happen under NORMAL use. If you are actively trying to FIND these supposed 'bugs', that's a whole different matter altogether. The upside down cursor problem for example is not Internet Channel exclusive, but happens in many other places on the Wii which use Ninty's own wiimote pointer librarby cr08 - Homebrew General
Like strongfan stated, it largely depends on what disc format it's using. I would HOPE though that they are pressed dvd's since there certainly are some set-top players out there that do not play nice with cd based media without major handholding. Throw it in your pc and see whether it's a dvd or cd. If the former, you're in luck. Should work in your wii using the dvd editiby cr08 - Homebrew Applications
What people are forgetting and has been covered numerous times before is that firefox has been designed to run on operating systems that already have libraries and api's for access to graphics display, mouse/keyboard interaction, file system and network access, etc.. In the grand scheme of things, the Fx developers have relatively little to code since most of the mission critical stuff is avby cr08 - Homebrew General
Agreed. I think Nintendo took a step backwards in not supporting BBA emulation in gamecube mode even if there weren't a whole tone of games that supported network/internet connectivity on the cube. It would be nice to at least see an unofficial Team Twiizers hack for this, but would be a nice xmas present of Ninty could make it an official system update.by cr08 - Homebrew General
Yeah. I just noticed the newest release of one of the many editions of Snes9x and this is exactly the type of thing I'm talking about. Wide support for all the viable controllers, button mapping to whatever setup you desire, etc.. Just like it's big brother counterpart on the PC. Now if the other emulator coders could clue in on this...by cr08 - Homebrew General
QuotemoronicronI know that lopzt snes emulator have button mapping for the gamecube controller. Unfortunately that does not account for the wiimote or any other available controller which is the really big beef I have. Really, this is very trivial to add considering there are a number of libraries available to add wiimote and wiimote-attachment support (ie: guitar, classic controller, nunchuby cr08 - Homebrew General
Another problem you have is even those 'Home button menu's' are part of whatever game/app you are running and not the Wii software itself. It would take much more than a simple 'update' to implement that. About the best you'd manage is either a lone channel or added function to the System Menu for voice chat functionality, but certainly not anywhere close to beingby cr08 - Homebrew General
Yeah. At least that dev is thinking. I have a LOT of old SNES games here I'd love to throw up on my Wii, but unfortunately I'm currently locked into needing a classic controller or gamecube controller. Same goes for N64 titles. Especially for the SNES, the wiimote alone has enough buttons for it save for the shoulder buttons (which, imho, were hardly ever used save for a few games heby cr08 - Homebrew General
This one annoyance has been a little thorn in my side for quite some time now and I figured I'd ponder this here. Many homebrew apps and emulators so far for the Wii have limited themselves to using either a Gamecube controller or the Classic controller for whatever reason, even if the overall control list for said app is feasible on just the Wiimote or Wiimote+nunchuk. @strongfan: Use the (libdvdnav) option to do menus and then hold the 1 button down on the wiitmote while using the d-pad to move around the menu screen and hit A while holding 1 to click an option.by cr08 - Homebrew Applications
So far 99% of dvd's I have tried from many different movie companies have worked using sans-menu mode. I haven't bothered trying anything with the menu yet largely do to the fact that playback performance does take a substantial hit. I'm just curious though if the underscan visible is due to the mplayer core or the hacks required to get it running on the Wii? Either way, anyoneby cr08 - Homebrew Applications
Sorry. Yes. My bad. 480p is what I was talking about. Been a LONG day.by cr08 - Homebrew General
All I know is I do remember reading that the HARDWARE was limited to 480p because the chip responsible for producing the component/rgb signals had a limit of what frequency it can run at. Just like your own PC, the bandwidth of this chip is directly proportional to what frequency it's running at. The framebuffer could probably be easily tweaked and hacked with homebrew at least to supportby cr08 - Homebrew General
I think it's actually been covered elsewhere (and correct me if I'm wrong here, anyone who's actually dove deeper into the subject.) that the chip in the console responsible for producing a YPbPr signal (or RGB/SCART for those of you across the pond) has an upper frequency limit in hardware (read: Cannot be 'overclocked' in any way without some major hardware mods. So humor me for a second as I haven't actually followed the homebrew scene of any other console similar to the Wii in terms of external peripheral options, namely USB support in this case. How difficult is it to go in and write/compile drivers for non-Ninty sanctioned usb peripherals? This means anything from usb audio devices, GPRS modems, etc.. I would hazard a guess this is fairly trivby cr08 - Coding
QuoteChintendoare all the dvds widescreen with this? I watched the covenant on it and the whole movie was widescreeen, while on my brothers tv with his xbox it was only widescreen for the intro, then it was fullscreen. It all depends on the movie and whether you have the Wii settings set to 4:3 or 16:9. Widescreen movies will fill the screen on the 16:9 setting or letterbox on 4:3.
