I used the IOS61 and Shop Channel updater and Shop Channel works great now and I'm still on 4.1 Yeah, you should always take a backup before you make any massive changes to NAND though (IF you installed it as boot2, IOS is pointless at the moment) saves a lot of trouble. You can only recover with BootMii/boot2. If you installed it as boot2 and it doesn't appear when you boot your Wiiby Matoking - Getting Started
You could have a single partition for HBC apps (FAT32) and other for computer stuff. (NTFS) So the 4GB filesize limit won't get on the way.by Matoking - Getting Started
Just change the URLs in the menu.conf : From "http://fallback.extremscorner.co.cc/wii/yt/playlist.php?view=newsubscriptionvideos&channel=ExtremsCorner" to this "http://fallback.extremscorner.co.cc/wii/yt/playlist.php?view=newsubscriptionvideos&channel="by Matoking - Homebrew Applications
This happened to me too. I thought the program crashed and was scared to power off Wii. I eventually powered it off and luckily nothing had bricked.by Matoking - Homebrew General
Is the hard drive's partion NTFS? It has to be FAT for it to work.by Matoking - Getting Started
QuoteSifJarand in future, avoid waninkoko's "work", especially his "safe updaters". They are badly tested and give no flexibility, and can often cause bricks. Better alternative would be just not updating at all. You can get Shop Channel working just by updating it itself and probably IOS61.by Matoking - Homebrew General
Update BootMii, they had to change the Title ID of HBC and DVDx and the old Bootmii doesn't know the new Title ID.by Matoking - Homebrew General
Don't install Wanky's cIOS, use tona's one if you wanna go legal. (no backup-loading thingamajigs but who needs em' anyway?) You need a trucha-bugged IOS to install any cIOSes. Do you have your BootMii files on your SD card? They have to be in it for BootMii to run.by Matoking - Getting Started
Doesn't matter. Better yet, don't update the Wii Menu at all.by Matoking - Getting Started
Choose one of the IOSes that they mentioned and when it asks whether to apply the trucha-patch DON'T apply it. EDIT :. Oh wait, you already figured it outby Matoking - Getting Started
I'm from Finland too, btw. There doens't seem to be too many places to rent games, I saw some place where you could rent them but the games were pretty obscure and random.by Matoking - Getting Started
Just updating the shop channel shouldn't cause any brick.by Matoking - Homebrew Applications
They just updated DVDx's title ID, it seems that none of the apps recognize the new DVDx currently. And you are not meaning Wii game backups...?by Matoking - Getting Started
Try running the app (Dop-IOS MOD) using this :by Matoking - Getting Started
Often running the installer again makes it uninstall. If not, harass the creator. Or use DOP-IOS Mod to install at least one vanilla IOS.by Matoking - Getting Started
It just fixed the BootMii/IOS power-button glitch.by Matoking - BootMii Beta
Not really sure if that'll work, I'm still on 4.1, but I have noticed that most of HBCs are installed on 61. Have you modified any of the IOSes?by Matoking - Getting Started
Try installing a completely unpatched IOS61 with DOP-IOS Mod and reinstall HBC.by Matoking - Getting Started
Backup loaders ain't supported here. The IOS what the apps seem to use is probably busted or something.by Matoking - Getting Started
You have probably never synced the Wiimote(s) with the Sync button on the front of Wii and on the battery cover of Wiimote.by Matoking - Getting Started
QuoteTheManuelIs there any indication yet of what is causing the bricked Wii's after updating to 4.2? Somebody mentioned something about converted Korean region Wii's. Has anyone here in the forum updated safely to 4.2 while having the homebrew channel and/or BootMii installed? My guess is this is happening to Wii's that have been modified in some way or another despite whatby Matoking - Homebrew General
Beat up your sister and put parental lock on the system updates afterward. Okay, ignore the first one. Here are your chances : 1. Wait for an updated Bannerbomb (yes, the fix was so retarded that comex will have a working Bannerbomb on 4.2 in no time) 2. Buy LEGO Indiana Jones and use Indiana Pwns 3. Wait for a PAL version of SmashStack (if comex is still working on it)by Matoking - Getting Started
Quoteaidanwiibrew WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??? You are supposed to extract the files of the .zip file into the private folder... The .zip file itself is useless. If you did extract it, did you go into the Channels instead of Saved Data. You could also try other Bannerbomb versions.by Matoking - Getting Started
Both boot.elf and boot.dol are fine.by Matoking - Getting Started
QuoteArikadoI have not read a single in post in this topic at time of writing. I am too busy - sorry. Instead, I've read all of the currently available information and talked to some people so here is my obligatory summary: Bannerbomb: No longer works ATM. This may be fixable. In the meantime, use Smashstack or Indiana PWns instead. Homebrew Channel: Is deleted if you update. Can noby Matoking - Homebrew General
Updating through Nintendo rarely, if never, fixes any problems with homebrew. It's probably because the coder has compiled it using outdated libraries or there is simply a bug in the software.by Matoking - Homebrew General
Hackmii Installer doesn't work at the moment, neither the test version or the stable one.by Matoking - Homebrew General
QuoteSifJarQuoteMatokingThe Preloader haxx-skip seems to be useless right now, as you can't install Preloader as IOS70. The only way I can think of to make use of it would be to apply it to a System Menu WAD then install it. That way, you'd have 4.2 without HBC blocking. But it'd be a fairly long process to patch it in. You'd need to download and decrypt the System Menu withby Matoking - Homebrew General
You can use Gecko OS to skip update check, although it's quite annoying to do everytime. Maybe have a option in BootMii to start the HBC and load the Gecko OS immediately? And yes, I find the boot2 update quite outrageous. Won't be surprised that there will be a surge of suddenly bricked Wiis.by Matoking - Homebrew General
