HELP ME - 17 years ago

Hi guys i am still all new to this so hope i don’t make a fool of myself I put homebrew on my wii and it rocks but when I put it on my friends it would not work because his ver of wii is 2.1E and home brew says it’s to old and i have to update it 1st but wont the update block me from using homebrew???? Thanks
