QuoteWaxyPumpkin72When you run the installer, I'm pretty sure it gives you the selection to download it over the network. Just select the option and it will begin installation. Ok and to run the installer can I use loadmii? If not what else?by ICEing - Homebrew General
QuoteWaxyPumpkin72QuoteICEingEh...I chickened out. I dont want any cIOS on my Wii since it supposedly does something negative? Risky? AFAIK, you can't install anything that can mess with bootmii. If something goes wrong, then just restore your backup. I've restored my backup(s) multiple times, and never had any issues. I really think its fine to install. Ok then. Ill go for it. >_&by ICEing - Homebrew General

QuoteWaxyPumpkin72Then there's no reason to be afraid. You may as well install it. Good luck! :D One last thing. I read ina different topic here in the "bootmii" sections, someone said that some cIOS affects bootmii?by ICEing - Homebrew General
QuoteWaxyPumpkin72Well, on the wiki it does say that you have a chance of bricking your wii....Do you have bootmii installed on boot2 with a NAND backup? Indeed I doby ICEing - Homebrew General

I was just reading about the Start Patch on wiibrew and it seems pretty sweet. Only thing is It says I need cIOS and I hear from u guys that I should just stay away from that stuff. But someone told me about StartPatch saying you can get free Wii games? I dont think we can talk about that though here I'm just wondering if its worth it or not. I recently got some application images from the wiibrew.org and I copied the pictures into the apps (for the SNES 9X GX) and replaced the image.png with the new one and it dosent load on the HBC! What did I do wrong? I tried it on several other apps too with different pics. I went to apps>snes9xgx and replaced the .png image with the new one basicallyby ICEing - Getting Started
I recently sent my Wii to Nintendo for some repairs. They had to clean and replace the disc drive (or whatever device is called that reads the discs.) I told them on the phone (being honest) that I modded my Wii an have the Homebrew Channel. They guy said its no prob and they will fix it. Today I just got my wii back. It was on 3.4 and now is on 4.1 (not surprising) But I WAS able to re-downloadby ICEing - Offtopic
QuoteWaxyPumpkin72You're ready to install, don't worry about the wiiload folder. If you're curious as to what it is though, you can read up on it here. :) Thanks :) If anything goes wrong Ill be sure to post it here :)by ICEing - Getting Started
Ok just a quick question. I downloaded the "aad1f_v108.zip" file and saved the "private" folder to the root of my SD card. Then I downloaded the Hackmii Installer and saved the "boot.elf" file to the root of my SD as well. But when I download the Hackmii I noticed a folder there named "wiiload" next to the boot.elf file. The instructions dont mention this folder so should I ignore it or am I allby ICEing - Getting Started
QuoteSifJarThey cant update boot1. And updadting boot2 will do no good, bootmii uses an exploit present in boot1, there's nothing they can do to stop you reinstalling HBC, DVDx and BootMii. The only thing they could do is send you a new Wii, in which case you wont be able to install BootMii as boot2, but everything else will work fine. IF they send me a new Wii, Cant you install bootmii soby ICEing - Offtopic
QuoteTopGun96It is because you have one of the very few wiis that dont read Dual-Layer Discs very well (Smash Bros. Brawl and Metroid Prime Trilogy). Yes if you send it into nintendo they will get rid of it and possibly update other things. (boot1 and 2) If they do remove and update it, can I still re-download the HBC and bootmii?by ICEing - Offtopic
Thanks i updated to 4.1 cause in my new topic, it didnt read a specific game. It still dosent work so I have to send it in to Nintendo for repairs :( Which they will remove my homebrew channel :(by ICEing - Homebrew General
I just bought the Metroid Prime Trilogy and it says "unable to read disc" I returned it and got a new one it said the same message. I updated to 4.1 it said the same nonsense. I called Nintendo they said since my Wii is old it may not be able to read the disc because its "dual something" I dont know. Is this a result of homebrew?? Because it reads every single game I have no problem except that gby ICEing - Offtopic
QuoteyellowstarcIOS is mainly used by pirates. tona's cIOS rev5 clone is legal though. tona's cIOS clone is useful for Wiis with the Oct 23 update, 3.4, or later, mainly installing fake-signed titles. The average person does not need cIOS. Though there are some homebrew that uses cIOS, but these install modified titles.(Mainly sysmenu modifications.) First off, I heard 4.1 does not affect anything dealing with the HBC or any applications correct? And stuff like bootmii wont be affected as well? I'm on 3.4 and figure mind as well update to 4.1 since im not on 3.2. Second I heard updating the WIi via game disc does ACTUALLY remove some stuff (I dont know what) So was wondering If I should update the Wii over WiFi? Lastly is there aby ICEing - Homebrew General
Ive seen a lot of talk about "IOS" and stuff and some talk about "cIOS" or something and that you can change the IOS on your wii and whatnot. Can someone explain what this is and should it be tampered with or no? Because I hear a lot of people doing modifications to the IOS and I want to know whats the use with this. Quotebg4545It doesn't change the look of the HBC, it is it's own program that launches homebrew (almost like loadmii) Oh I see. Is it useful?by ICEing - Homebrew Applications
QuoteTopGun96Hmmmmm... Looks interesting. To me it looks like a HBC alternative that emulates the system menu bit instead of channels it is your homebrew Yeah thats what intrested me. It looks really neat thats why I was asking. It takes a lot to download correctly it seems, but from some of the snapshots, it seems something more than simply changing the look of the HBC to the system menuby ICEing - Homebrew Applications

The title of my topic says it all. I just need a clear explanation as to what the Wii Homebrew Launcher is. Is it just a custom homebrew channel? What does it do?by ICEing - Homebrew Applications
QuoteSifJarThat's right, and it should be fine. Keep the files on your first card until you have confirmed them working on the new card, as copying COULD (incredibly slight chance) corrupt the files/card. Thanks :) Thats all I needed to know. I appreciate itby ICEing - Getting Started

QuoteSifJar2GB will be fine. Its only SDHC for 4GB and above. Thanks. So basically how I copy is take all the folders out my current SD card, then move them to the desktop, put in my new SD Card, and copy them all to the new one. And this wont screw anything?by ICEing - Getting Started
