Problems with standby mode - 15 years ago

Hi people, I installed homebrew on my wii using the hackmii installer for version 4.0e. However since then when i try and power my wii down into standby to charge my wii remotes it switches off completely, so instead of amber light I have the red light on. The only way i can charge my remotes is by leaving the wii on, keep alternating the remotes while playing, or through the pc when im
