Well for once I did the above comparison for c64 emulators in two different c64 vc games, as far as I remember they were slightly different... take it as tweaking the emulator options to the specific game since vc games don't have the usual configuration stuff in them unlike the regular emulators so they are being different is actually normal but of course they are possibly built off the samby WiiCrazy - Homebrew General
QuotewhodaresWell when I get to my channel installer, I won't be using the WAD format, I'll be using a custom format. The only trouble with your suggestions are that if we were to write a banner preview tool for the homebrew channel, then we'll have to do it from what we know about the banner file formats. This means that if any of the current unknowns have specific purpose, our diby WiiCrazy - Homebrew General
it's sadmenu... it can't be used for testing... it changes the references to banner.bin files to zanner.bin files and all channels except disc channel loaded in black... so you can't actually test the banner... System menu in wii and probably most of the channels incorporate stuff from an early build of opera, web browser... hence if you mess up your nand content, one way is through installing an incorrect region system menu, the system menu or that specific channel can't find the files compatible with the system configuration... it's just a bug in the wii system software actually... from dayby WiiCrazy - FixMii

Installing seems not to be the problem... Since all wads installed using ticket services of the IOS using the trucha exploit. Successfuly did a basic patch... (changed the "The System Files..." text as "Da System Files...") Now I need a nifty patch to apply that breaks me out of the error condition... By the way unlike as suggested before freeloader doesn't restart the system menu... if it had done that then my basic recovery menu patch should have worked... It seems error statuses are filled into a memory address (maybe a static variable in the assembly) by an asynchronous process and in the main program cycle it's controlled like lwz %r3, ((dword_810890A0+0x6FF8)@l)(%r29) bl check__Q23ipl12ErrorHandlerFv # ipl::ErrorHandler::check((void)) mainly there are 3 run states that this routine is called , ipl:System::run, ipl:System:by WiiCrazy - Software
The one I grabbed from the dol of the system assembly has just 4 strings, it's located in _f_data:81611260 in my 3.2 ntsc disassembly. It's referenced by the error handling routines here is the code that references it, Yesterday I just tried to decode the bmg file hence I didn't have time to look at the code thoroughly... Those who were able to recover can post information to this thread so other users can see if they are covered with the recovery from savemii. This can be the template 1. It's probably there for the user to be able to format the wii I guess... Recent events like big emails causing the console to freeze is just an example for it's legit use. It's optional for a technician anyway and why would he be bothered to enter into the maintenance mode if he can boot the wii in the normal mode? In the above disassembly I changed the do_region_patching branch in the apploader_main to my custom routine as below.. Ever got it tested using the drivechips for d2c boards? especially in the banner (actually archive) brick case since menu update will not recover them. I want to know why I can't autoboot using my modchip, could it be that drivechip patching the gamecode and sending that 0 as R or something.? If so, savemii will not work too? QuoteportemsUsing Freeloader you can put update.elf on an SD card and it will boot this instead of using the internal patching. You are in a good place to patch anything in the System Menu. It would be fantastic if we could use two wiimotes and the balance board to simulate a drumkit... QuoteNukeYour asm is over writing the 'move the link register' in that code and later the code will branch to the link register, this is not safe code practice as you don't know where the link register is pointing too when it makes the jump as it will be holding the 'previous' set. QuotebushingI suggest you go take a peek at YAGCD: Everything it says there about the GameCube still applies to the Wii, except replace "bootrom" with "System Menu". The apploader is a piece of code that the system menu loads. It then calls that code to figure out how to load the DOL from the disc. Once that's done, the apploader exits, leaving the DOL in memory and returning controby WiiCrazy - Software

Yesterday I investigated if I can put there a code that links to the libogc (to delete the offending title)... yet I don't think it's doable, there are lots of code that should be linked and that amounts to probably at least 100K-150K of binary code and the standard libraries clash with the apploader&by WiiCrazy - Software
@bushing, thanks for the disassembly. @HyperHacker "/_sys/IOS", well it seems there is no direct reference to it.
