HBC or Twighlight - 15 years ago

Hi new to this, read loads on forum, thinking of modding Wii do i have to put twighlight on as well as HBC or can i use just one? Also once i have installed it can i remove SD card and use copy games via DVD or do they have to run from SD card Sorry if these questions been asked, but want to clarify BTW my WII is ver 3.4
