did i downgrade? - 17 years ago

a while back i used the HBC to install DVDX and i think (cant remember exactly) that it was an unofficial version and i think it downgraded my IOS because i had updated to where it would not install for me regularly, so i want to update to 4.0U but will it do anything to my wii? thanks for any help
