Well, the FCC also said that customers can do whatever they wanted with the jailbroken device without persecution of any kind from the original provider. If that comes to Wii, with the exception of hardware modification/cIOSes, Nintendo would have to revoke the void warranties.by Mestizo - Offtopic
I've read that the FCC made jailbreaking iPhones and other cell phones legal. With this in mind, would it also be possible to do the same with other electronics, as well as the Wii, so Nintendo wouldn't have to try to take us down and get TT to grind their teeth at both fans rushing them and working to counter-act Nintendo's counter?by Mestizo - Offtopic
Have you updated your Homebrew Channel to 1.0.7? If so, do that now, then update your Wii. The security check for the Homebrew Channel should be disabled.by Mestizo - Getting Started
The only ill-effect is that DVDx will be deleted, as it is obsolete. Good thing is you need IOS 202 to run DVDs. You can get the installer through the FCE Ultra GX download page.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
If you load a game/channel through Gecko OS, it will show as Homebrew Channel. Best thing to do is to run something small (Mii Channel for example) about 10 or so times until it starts listing "Other", and then running Gecko OS to avoid showing the Homerbrew Channel.by Mestizo - Getting Started
I second this request. Maybe right stick up/down alters the state select.by Mestizo - Ideas, requests
As of yet, there is no safe way (or true purpose) to update to 4.3 and keep homebrew. If you want to use the shop, just use WiiSCU and choose to update the Wii Shop Channel (If you're using v0.23 or higher, choose Wii Shop Channel v19). Also, I don't think it's possible that Super Paper Mario would be corrupting your Wii. Have you tried deleting the save file for Super Paper Marby Mestizo - Homebrew General
Talking about third-party WADs (unless it's Homebrew Channel) isn't usually allowed. Anyway, I'm still on 4.2. I promised myself that, until they release Earthbound on the Virtual Console (*keeps an eye on the sky for pigs*), HBC will stay.by Mestizo - Getting Started
There is a method to get HBC back on a 4.3 Wii, but it doesn't involve Bootmii. It involves a lot of IOS-modifying programs (the task is simpler to do if you load LoadMii through Smash Stack). But, it's not recommended right now for the Homebrew Channel, since the method's too complex. You're better off just using LoadMii in Smash Stack to load homebrew, or wait for the new Haby Mestizo - Getting Started
Quotepersonafan87Couldn't you just run metroid (or any other game that needs an update) through gecko without updating? If the game has a required update (a new IOS, like New Super Mario Bros Wii, for example), Gecko will refuse to load the game, even if you did a Priiloader patch. If you just mention the rom, or ask about an emulator-caused bug involving the rom, it's ok. You can even brag about your ROM collection. As long as you don't quote WHERE you got them, or offer them out, you're free to talk about them, I believe.by Mestizo - Feedback & Support
QuoteElija2Do Smash Stack and Indiana Pwns not work with SDHC? Glad I didn't update then. Smash Stack absolutely requires a 2GB SD card. Anything higher than that or SDHC will not work. This was before Nintendo made SDHC the standard, and Smash Bros Brawl was made without it in thought, so the game will NOT read SDHC cards.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
Lego Harry Potter was released too close to 4.3. Most likely, it will have 4.2. Best bet the next game to have 4.3 will be Metroid: Other M and, hopefully, we'll have the new Hackmii installer by then.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
Homebrew Channel has a known issue that locks the Wii randomly. I heard it has something to do with WiiConnect24 on. Turn it off temporarily until you download said codes.by Mestizo - Homebrew Applications
Quotebrominewhat? when I put in the game it says "please update wii". That's supposed to happen. Accept the update (it's from the disk)by Mestizo - Getting Started
The VC games are region-locked. Also, unless you brought your Wii to Europe, talk of pirated WADs are not allowed.by Mestizo - Getting Started
Sounds like your SD card is corrupt. Re-format itby Mestizo - Getting Started
First off, this is a board for Wii homebrew, not Gamecube. I don't think the Gamecube Action Replay is compatible with Wii, since it blocks all game-enhancement disks. Also, the AR has a chance of corrupting save data. All you can do is try again, but next time, get a Gamecube for that stuff for a much higher chance for success.by Mestizo - Homebrew Applications
QuotebromineI read if I do the system update it will brick the wii It's a scare tactic from Nintendo. I've had my Homebrew Channel on 4.2 since December. Updated through both New Super Mario Bros Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2, and still have a fully functional Wii (with the exception of some game crashes)by Mestizo - Getting Started
New Super Mario Bros Wii has 4.1. If you used the current HackMii + Bannerbomb (Homebrew Channel version 1.0.6), just update.by Mestizo - Getting Started
I suppose that updater thing was a homebrew? That's probably the cause. Homebrew updaters are known to fail, from either not doing the update to bricking the Wii. I suppose the updater disabled the boot2 BootMii. Do an official update to 4.2 using Super Mario Galaxi 2 (if able) and reinstall BootMii.by Mestizo - FixMii
QuoteWackykid5000Alright, so what I understand is.. To get HBC on version 4.3U of the Wii, (using the Smash Stack exploit), I would need Brawl, an SD card (not SDHC), and the new Hackmii installer when it comes out.. Anything I'm missing? I'm having a difficult time understanding this, sorry :s. No, that's pretty much it.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
Quotefun501So, I was wondering if I updated if it would brick my wii or not. I'm fine with losing homebrew. I just to be able to use my wii to play games and use the shop channel. If this has already been answered, I'm sorry but there were 7 pages of posts so i couldn't read all of them. As it is now, 2 things in your post has been answered: 1. Nintendo can NOT release an updaby Mestizo - Homebrew General
QuotedancinninjaMy point was that you should support the official developers. I have spent the past few months and over 200 hours learning GX (the graphical API for the Wii) inside and out. What that has taught me is that it takes an incredible amount of time, energy, know-how, and work to create a game. The people who created these games did not do so in their spare time; they didn't have aby Mestizo - Offtopic
QuoteSonicChronoWill Team Twiizers be able to release the new version of HBC by around the 15th or the end of this month? As soon as they release it, the WiiBrew community would be the first to know. Have patience; there's no reason to update to 4.3. If you're on 4.2, all you need is WiiSCU and you're good. If you're on 4.3, use Smash Stack or Indiana Pwns.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
QuoteArikadoI'm sorry, but this is the stupidest topic I've ever seen grace these forums. 1)There's no reason to update to anything past 4.1 2)You can still run homebrew on 4.3 3)Homebrew emulators are obviously much better than VC emulators. You can emulate more than one ROM in a homebrew emulator and you have tons of features on hand. You can also emulate consoles (DS) yby Mestizo - Offtopic
Not sure if this is an error in coding, but, if you clear level 28 in Still Alive Wii, when you get asked if you want to save a replay, it'll go back to the moment you cleared the stage and loop. The only way out of the game, sadly, is to unplug your Wii (the game will NOT take you back to the loader). Just thought I'd point this out.by Mestizo - Homebrew Applications
QuotedancinninjaDefinitely abandon Homebrew in favor of Virtual Console games. However, keep Homebrew around for, well, Homebrew games! There are some outrageously talented people out there putting out some really entertaining and original games. I know. I've been hooked on Bash the Castle, Mahjongg Wii, Syobon Action, and Still Alive Wii. I'm just saying, between emulators and Virtuaby Mestizo - Offtopic
Well, if you want to update to 4.2, just get Super Mario Galaxy 2 or Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. No need to buy them if you don't want them. You can just rent them from a rental outlet or borrow them from a friend.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
Only way right now is to update through Super Mario Galaxy 2 or Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, which have 4.2. If you want 4.1, you need New Super Mario Bros Wii.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
