You're welcome =) This community is indeed a lot nicer than many net forums, especially some I use. Treat others how you would like to be treated and all that. 1) Pretty much. It should tell you whether you can install it as boot2/IOS before actually going ahead with the install, though. 2) Okay, some clarification needed, I think. Bootmii can be installed as Boot2 or IOS. 1) Sounds fine. 2) For playing DVDs you will want to install DVDx and use an application like MPlayer CE. As far as backups go, Bootmii is what you need, but under normal circumstances you don't actually need it. Not at all bad to have, though (provided it is installed as boot2). 3) See above. 4) The steps on the bannerbomb page are pretty much all you need to do. 5) Yes. 6) You can uniby PhoenixTank - Getting Started
QuoteArikadoBTW, phoenix, the wiimote timeout is handled by libogc and is fully customizable (via some function calls) when the wii remote un-syncs. Hmmm, I will have to investigate that, then.by PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
I like the idea, but if I remember correctly, libogc doesn't have much in the way of support for the Wii remote speaker... but you could use rumble. One other issue is that generally, for me at least, the Wii remotes time out and disconnect within a minute or so after last use.by PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
The search function helps. I don't use the application, just trying to point you in the right direction.by PhoenixTank - Offtopic
As far as SSBB goes... playing as wario man was great fun, but after that and some other hacks... my save file was completely trashed. I had to restart fresh :| So all I can offer you is the above warning... but hopefully someone else can help you. Though, perhaps check the region for the cheats/hacks you are using matches your game.by PhoenixTank - Homebrew General
I think you are going to get into a heck of a muddle until you understand the words that everyone use here. So, head to the Wiibrew Glossary. I kinda suggest you read "H" & "C" first, then skim the other letters. A primer is um, a crash course, in a sense. i.e. A tutorial explaining to you how programming works. Try not to jump head first into this. I've been a hobbyist web developer for sby PhoenixTank - Getting Started
Those are for you, no signatures on Wiibrew :P Are you intending on developing homebrew, or are you simply interested? Either way, you need a programming primer so that you understand the concepts. The Wikipedia article should help there, but I wouldn't call it ideal.by PhoenixTank - Getting Started
Wii hombrew apps are programmed using a language called C/C++ as well as a toolchain to compile the lines of code so that they can be run on the Wii. Programming in general Getting started with Wii Devby PhoenixTank - Getting Started

Launch the hackmii installer, head to the bootmii section and prepare SD card, and you should be good to go.by PhoenixTank - Getting Started
Hmm... double check the COM drivers were installed after checking VCP. The mode needs to be VCP, and you should be able find the correct COM port from device manager, too. After checking that, and setting Wiiload to whatever the actual COM port is, reboot. For me at least, XP doesn't register environmental variable changes until after a restart. Could be that, but your program would suby PhoenixTank - Getting Started
Edit: Bah, too slow. Just consider this a response to Waxy :P No no, bg4545 came up with Device Explorer, and there are some other decent ideas (ExploreMii, included) in the thread. I just think it needs Wii or Phx as a prefix to convey that it is not a general application for other platforms. No huge rush, though, as there is still plenty to do. I just needed a name by the time an alpha orby PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
I'm going with Phx Device Explorer, unless something better comes up in the meantime. Seems to fit the bill pretty well. Full (but probably unused) name would be Phoenix Device Explorer, and it could also abbreviate to PDX or PDE.by PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
It depends, really. Libwiisprite & grrlib would probably do what you need, but SDL has also been ported to wii.by PhoenixTank - Coding
Don't make me shake my fist at you guys and your off topic shenanigans :Pby PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
For shits & giggles: I haven't touched Photoshop in a while, so that was a half decent refresher =) I think Device Explorer is in the lead at the moment. I'm resisting any change to double that 'i', but pondering a Wii or Phx prefix. Yay or nay?by PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
Are you guys sure you wouldn't prefer Wii Device Fiile ExploreMii Browser Extreme? :P Jokes aside, "Device Explorer" is closer to the original than the others and cliche free! Probably my personal favourite so far. Keep the ideas and opinions coming.by PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
QuoteWaxyPumpkin72QuotePhoenixTank So, I take it, neither of you likes "WiiHub? Eh. Not really, sorry. :P I really like exploremii. Oh well. :P No worries, I am mostly neutral here, just wanted the feedback on that. As long as it is popular and appropriate to what the application can/will do, that will trump my dislike for the "XXX-Mii" and "It has an 'I'... better double it up!" clicby PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
QuoteJellycoronaWiiphiles? Get it? Pedophiles? hahahahahaha Hi-larious. QuoteWaxyPumpkin72How about "Exploremii"? I like it. :P Not bad. I thought of FileMii as well, but I kinda think we have enough cheesy "Wii-ified" application names. Best to avoid those, if possible. So, I take it, neither of you likes "WiiHub?by PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
Soo, I believe I am to the point where I am sure that my SD Explorer rewrite/upgrade isn't actually going to become vapour-ware. The original SSB was released on the European VC a month or so ago, Waxy. Should have quoted, I guess :Pby PhoenixTank - Getting Started
It really isn't hard to add, though. Just a case of outdated libraries in the apps, and/or lack of basic logic supporting it.by PhoenixTank - Getting Started
Should have picked up the European release, Waxy :P Err... I'm not off topic, honest.by PhoenixTank - Getting Started
If anyone wants the logic from the original, I can provide a decompiled .fla. I'd have a go myself, but the logic is, unfortunately, AS 1.0 style.by PhoenixTank - Ideas, requests
You're welcome, guys. I generally use BC Math with PHP, but couldn't find immediate source for that. PHP can also use GMP for these situations, so I thought that might be useful here =)by PhoenixTank - Offtopic
USB devices that conform to standards will work. As for homebrew apps, your mileage will vary. Check the Wiibrew page for each app.by PhoenixTank - Getting Started
Funny you mention icefire, because that was how the conversation about the banner tools came about in IRC. But yes, it would be cool if they were released, just don't hold your breath.by PhoenixTank - Homebrew General
