MKF is build using gamemaker, not really portable.by Daid - Ideas, requests
Nothing wrong here. Except for you not reading the right documentation about scanf: QuoteString of characters. This will read subsequent characters until a whitespace is found (whitespace characters are considered to be blank, newline and tab).by Daid - Coding
DevKitPro provides quite a few libraries precompiled, just look at: under "portlibs" This includes mxml, and many others that a lot of developers use.by Daid - Coding
I'm not sure if scanf even works with USB keyboards on the Wii. But have you called KEYBOARD_Init?by Daid - Coding
I think you could just 'jump' to the real entry point of the executable. I think: _start();Might work (_start is an label in the startup assembly code) This wil reset the stack and all variables to initial values, as the startup code handles all this.by Daid - Coding
I've started to work on a clone for fun. Not sure if I'll ever finish it, but it's something simple and fun to work on. I do have some slight other ideas, which will make it a different game from SMC. I don't want to stick to just plugging other chars in super mario. I want to try to mix up everything. So a world of mario, a dungeon of zelda, a map of contra. All playable wby Daid - Ideas, requests

I've tried googleing but not found anything T_TYour information is to limited to help you. Details about what you are doing and what the result is are required for assistance. Small notice, no need to try to run (official nintendo) games from the SD card, as they get copied to the system memory before run and then run from there.by Daid - Homebrew General
QuoteSifJarAFAIK, Team Twiizers made HBC NOT appear in play logs in recent versions. In older versions it did, and if it still does for you, you should probably update.I made bootmii autostart HBC around the same time as I updated HBC, guess that explains it :Pby Daid - Ideas, requests
I only think the underscores at the end of the class members look very silly. And as I ready stupid/bad/horrible code almost every day I cannot really judge if your code is easy enough to understand, as I'm so used to understanding all kinds of code.by Daid - Coding

Quotebg4545First of all, the Homebrew Channel isn't listed in the play logs normally.Depends, if you run trough bootmii it won't if you use the system menu it will.by Daid - Ideas, requests
I think code::blocks is the best for 'embedded' development (like the Wii) however, you should compile the latest from SVN, as the released version (which is 2 years old) is buggy compared to the SVN. It can use custom makefiles, and with a bit of configuration you can also use the internal build system. Only the intellisense isn't that good.by Daid - Offtopic
Your SD card might be corrupt, that could cause all kinds of funky stuff. Try formatting your SD card.by Daid - Homebrew General
Interesting idea, it's not that convenient for people to capture the DSI exception stack trace of the screen. Maybe instead of trying to save it to disk (which could FAT corruption, if your exception was caused during writes) it would be better to send it out over the wifi network?by Daid - Ideas, requests

GX is not really a library, more a tiny wrapper around the GPU in the Wii (and gamecube) And grrlib makes heavy use of it, because the main function of using GX is hardware acceleration.by Daid - Coding
I use myself. Which requires a bit of manual configuration: if you use the internal build system. Or you can setup your project to use the Makefile.by Daid - Coding
It should work fine, as enums are just ints with a special name. I think your crash is not where you think it is.by Daid - Coding
Double buffering makes is almost a requirement to redraw everything. As you don't have the buffer of the previous frame to draw on, but of the frame before that. (So while you see Buffer 1 on the screen, you draw on Buffer 2, and then you view Buffer 2 and draw on Buffer 1) So 99% of the time it's easier to do a full redraw. But you can get away by not drawing anything and then doby Daid - Coding
I don't recommend ports (like quake) as first sources to look at and toy with, ports are most of the time large projects done in a way they work but are not pretty. And have complicated build systems. Maybe look at something like "BlastGuy" or "Helii", which are pretty simple games and don't contain shitloads of sources. Also, it seems you lack some understanding about a few thingby Daid - Coding
I suggest you learn some C first, and go trough the tutorials at WiiMC (like all media players) is a very complex project. I suggest you look at something simpler.by Daid - Coding
QuoteLordAshesI didn't say you could not get binary files via HTTP...of course you can otherwise you would not be able to download all those picture and/or software. What I was saying is that if your webpage is pure text (such as HTML code, a text files, etc) then the response from the server is also in plain text. So you read the response (into, for example, a buffer) and you already have tby Daid - Coding
