It's not a fix but it will stop depmod from complaining. Incidentally, alsa support is compiled within Mikep5 so modules are not really a problem for you (just an error message at boot). I don't use any audio on my Wii Linux because I use it purely for writing fiction on but I seem to remember EWL had no problems (maybe that didn't use Alsa). I found this post which may or maby fishears - Wii Linux
@q885 - sorry for the late reply - I don't get on here very often. I think the kernel I linked to was Farter's own build which you can download from the link towards the bottom of this blog entry. If that is the kernel you're referring to then you should ask Farter for permission to re-host (he does still check comments on his blog). Or you can try my kernel and if it works for youby fishears - Wii Linux
To compile modules do this: make ARCH=powerpc CROSS32_COMPILE=powerpc-linux- CROSS_COMPILE=powerpc-linux- modules Then to build the modules to a directory of your choice: make ARCH=powerpc CROSS32_COMPILE=powerpc-linux- CROSS_COMPILE=powerpc-linux- modules_install INSTALL_MOD_PATH={type the full path here}by fishears - Wii Linux

Quotenick141I had to use sudo chmod 777 to gain permissions in Ubuntu. I used the default archive manager in Ubuntu. OK. You need to extract the archive as root. So in a terminal type "gksu nautilus" which will launch the file manager as root. Then browse to the archive. Then open it and extract to your SD or right click and choose "extract to"... That will keep all the permissions as they shoby fishears - Wii Linux
hmm... Looks like the file permissions were not preserved when you extracted the archive. What program did you use to extract it?by fishears - Wii Linux
Try to follow this instructional video on how to partition an sdcard with Windows - there's a link in the description to the partitioning program used. This guide describes how you can mount ext2 drives in Windows - with read/write access. Should be all you need. Good luck!by fishears - Wii Linux
You need two partitions on your sdcard (you can't do this with a thumb drive/usb drive without manually editing the kernel - it has to be an sdcard in the front slot of your wii) The first can be fat16 or fat32 and needs to have been prepared for Bootmii (you should know how to do this). Copy a kernel of your choice to this first partition (just like in the first post of this thread but doby fishears - Wii Linux

Quotenick141I need a Windows guide for that. Like many things, this is not easy to accomplish in Windows - you'd need linux filesystem support as well as a clone of dd - both can be found on the web but its a whole lot easier if you download a LiveCD of something like Fedora or Ubuntu and then use it to perform the tasks in Linux.by fishears - Wii Linux
Quotenick141I have downloaded the Linux folder twice now and the .elf file doesn't find necessary files in the .img file, and when I inspect the .img file on my computer, I get a message saying the file is corrupted. Any ideas on how to fix this? Will the DVD function work on the newer Wii's? I couldn't get it to work as an img either so I recommend doing what I did: use dd toby fishears - Wii Linux

I'm using this build but instead of using the kernel and .img as they are I decided to dd it to an ext2 partition and use it as a normal filesystem with Farter's vfb kernel. It works AWESOMELY well. Has to be the easiest way to get a Debian 6 installation. I've got a lot of space so I run XFCE and have moved swap to my external HDD. Thanks for taking the time to set Squeeze up. Thanks for this Dapper for Wii. I was running XWhiite a few years back but stopped using it and eventually deleted the files. Just recently thought about getting the Wii set up for word processing but could I find a working link for XWhiite? No! Now I've got your Dapper running IceWM and I do my writing on ABIword. Thanks for saying "hooks" - that triggered me to look in the right places - it was the bit where the kenobiwii stuff is placed at 0x80001800 that sets the whole thing up.by fishears - Homebrew General
Hi I'm trying to get my head round the source code for applying Ocarina codes. I can read the appropriate GCT file from SD using the game id but what happens next? When the contents of the GCT file are copied into memory at 0x800027E8 is that how the game code is patched or is it placed there temporarily before the game gets patched (I read that this area of memory is commonly used as tempoby fishears - Homebrew General
The trouble is that the Hackmii branch of libfat can't be compiled with the DevkitPro branch of libogc or even with the Hackmii branch of libogc. I just can't see why Hackmii haven't made the necessary changes in their branch of libogc when this has been a problem for weeks now. There are some things you just can't do with the DevkitPro libogc/libfat....by fishears - Coding
Is there somewhere I can download a compiled libfat that includes fatUnsafeUnmount()? I can only find it in the Hackmii branch but that won't compile due to conflicts with libogc while they sort out moving disc functions over... Help would be greatly appreciated thanksby fishears - Coding
Thanks Tantric. I thought disc.h and disc_io.h looked like they were trying to be the same thing. I'll keep trying GIT until I get a copy that's fixed. Nice to know I'm not going mad. Happy Christmas to you allby fishears - Coding
Not sure why you say that. I've got only got one dev environment and it is at /home/jb/developer/devkitPro/ with a /libogc/ below that. Like I said, I can compile libogc from source without any problems so I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with the environment. I've downloaded the libfat source to /home/jb/developer/src/libfat/ and that's where I'm compiling fromby fishears - Coding
I just got the latest libfat from Hackmii but no matter what I do I get errors when I try to 'make ogc-release' In file included from /home/jb/developer/devkitPro/libogc/include/ogc/usbstorage.h:12, from /home/jb/developer/devkitPro/libogc/include/gccore.h:76, from /home/jb/developer/src/libfat/libogc/../source/lock.h:36, from /by fishears - Coding

Hi Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the ogc file es.h that includes ES_LaunchTitleBackground and not just ES_LaunchTitle? Hackmii is supposed to support this in their branch of libogc but I can't find a source to download it from.... Thanksby fishears - Coding
Sorry guys - I followed my chain of thought through after posting and tried to compile a linux bin from the neimod source I referred to. I placed the result in /usr/bin and voila the dip_module.elf is a success! I'll be back with more issues soon though....by fishears - The Junkyard

I installed HBC with the Twilight Hack. Fine.
