We're done here. If you still can't figure out how to get your ROMs onto a DVD, then use your SD Card or invest in a large external USB HDD.by Arikado - Homebrew General
I've actually been working on developing some exploits for the Wii via savegame. It's a very interesting process which boils down to: 1)Reverse the main.dol of a Wii ISO into PPC asm 2)Reverse the checksum used to save data 3)Apply the checksum to an unencrypted savefile (you can get unencrypted savefiles by extracting them from with Wii with a tool like my Savegame Manager MOD) viby Arikado - Coding
You can easily search through the logs of sites that cover Wii homebrew or the wiibrew wiki changelog if you're truly interested.by Arikado - Homebrew General
Yeah, it sucks like Nintendo's updates :/ I believe I recall Tantric putting a lot of time into trying to make the search engine work better but I guess it's still pretty bad.by Arikado - Offtopic
I absolutely adore your pictures (and the captions - lol), it's so awesome that you're there. I dont have any specific questions: Just wondering though: What have you had the most fun checking out (besides booth babes -- that would be my answer ;p)?by Arikado - Offtopic

I was under the impression that more recent versions of Gecko OS could in fact do this? Edit: Actually, I know they can, I just did it.by Arikado - Homebrew Applications
Due to the growing number of topic involving making and using cheat codes with Wii software, I've opened up a forum to put all of the cheat-related discussion into.] You can visit the new forum here:by Arikado - Old Announcements
You don't need a patched IOS for cheats. Just shove them on your SD Card and launch your game with Gecko OS.by Arikado - Homebrew Applications

QuoteAxelWhat do you think about the analog sticks? They feel cool, huh? Planning on implementing that to your other ports? :D Thought I explained this before but I can't use the analog sticks independently from each other without rewriting a significant portion of the emulator. That being said, this sort of a solution isn't that out there in the realm of possibilities ;)by Arikado - Homebrew Applications
It's not *necessary* per say, but it's nice to have. What else would I shove in there? :Pby Arikado - Homebrew Applications
Thanks for the help. I put your classic controller scheme in the WiiDoom repository now. Regarding music, I'm seeing how other engines like zdoom and such do it and seeing if I can use their methodology in any way. Im also looking at emulating with the sound chip used via code in Tantric's DOSBox port. It will take time, but I think (hope) I will get it eventually :3by Arikado - Homebrew Applications
QuoteXICO2KXQuoteArikadoNo OpenGL for Wii homebrew. Sorry. Don't know if it is any good or not, but the people on the GL2GX project seems to have already begin to develop an OpenGL wrapper for GX! ;) Yeah, I've worked with it myself actually. In short: It's really, really broken. scanff messed with the code and got some better results with it but as far as I know it's still aby Arikado - Ideas, requests

QuoteSifJarQuotereroshaggyHow about Partiicle or SandBoxii. Something using the wii naming convention that gives the user an idea of what to expect without having to read a description. My two cents XD. Btw are you still developing thi. If so you should consider tabbed groups of button so that the buttons can be larger and therefore more readable. I've released a new version of WiiDoom: WiiDoom 0.4.5. Here's what's new: * Full SDHC Support * Full USB Support * Classic Controller Support * Gamecube Controller Support * Changed /prboom/ to /apps/wiidoom/data/ * Various bugfixes and tweaks If you're kind enough to do so, you can donate here:by Arikado - Homebrew Applications
Thanks for the suggestions Axel. I'll look into implementing them into the next release. For now, I've used your classic controller scheme in my new WiiDOom 0.4.5 ;)by Arikado - Homebrew Applications
No, you're not going to be banned for expressing an opinion. We're not control freaks desperate to make everyone feel the same way about everything (well, I'm not at least ;P). I admit that you do have a valid point as I told you before. However, you must admit there is indeed a large divide separating emulators and "backup" loaders. Emulators are used illegally much less oftenby Arikado - Homebrew General

Nice point you brought up here Robert. I bet you think it's original. What it boils down to is this: Making a "backup loader" is excessively simple and really doesn't require that much knowledge of the Wii's hardware. Even a USB loader could be made in less than six hours (which is a really small amount of time in programming) by any competent programmer. Furthermore, these pby Arikado - Homebrew General
I'm not one to bring our private issues into the public domain. But here goes ... First a quick preface: lukegb and I have been developing a version of DOP-Mii for WiiBrew. It's final name is "DOP-Mii: WIiBrew Edition". It removes functionality from no DOP-Mii no longer supported by WiiBrew and changes it's installation methods to install content via a method that can work on vaby Arikado - Homebrew General
A lot of people were really happy with how my port of Heretic to Wii turned out so I decided to do an original port of Hexen to Wii. Right now, it's at about the same stage as my Heretic port so I'm calling this initial release version 0.5. You may be thinking "There's already another port of Hexen to Wii. What's so special in your port?". My port has the following featuresby Arikado - Homebrew Applications
Quotenightwishfan1Maybe add keyboards as a controller option? The game natively takes advantage of keyboards, and it would alleviate problems people have with adjusting to limited buttons that would require button combinations to do actions in game that normally would only require one button on the keyboard to pull off. This could be added to your Heretic port as well. I personally can't dby Arikado - Ideas, requests
All of the disc read problems were caused by dirty lasers in the Wii. If you've kept your Wii in good condition, you should be fine. If you do have problems, a quetip lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol should solve the problem :)by Arikado - Hardware

Axel, I have no idea why background music doesn't work. It's very frustrating :( The SDL Mixer driver I could use instead would probably work but it seems there are bugs in SDL Wii (I get tons of smpeg errors?) preventing me from trying that. Funny thing is, I could probably let people play their own MP3s as background music (which Im working on) more easily then I could enable the bby Arikado - Homebrew Applications
