Wii remote charging station

I recently bought a Dreamgear charging station for the wii remote, and I was wondering if i could just replace the included batteries.

I ask this here because the manufacturers won't reply my emails.

What i know is that the battery pack consists of two AAA batteries of 700 mAh each. They last ok I think, but having a couple batteries of, say, 1100 mAh would be cool.

They are easy to replace, but is it safe? I mean, the charger was designed to work with the included batteries.

what do you think?


edit: forgot to mention the batteries are NiMH...but that's pretty obvious.
