LU5 disc reading problems

Ok, so Im a little confused. Ive been reading around on the web that only LU1 and some LU3 wiis have been having problems reading SSBB. I had an LU3 and it had no problems, unfortunately it was wii System Version 4.0U. I now have a 3.3U no october update and it wont read SSBB.

Are there any alternatives to sending it in to Nintendo that I can do? Maybe a program that can mess with the drive to maybe make it read the disc?

Just some thoughts any help would be greatly appreciated =)


EDIT: Just to clarify, Im not using a pirated copy, I have a legit copy of SSBB, if that helps any.

The Disc wont even load. It wont read that disc at all. Disc channel just says unable to read disc, and I know the disc works ive tried it in different wiis.

Was it a new Wii?
If not: is the drive clean?

Did you perform any software modifications?
Can you test any other DVD-9?

By software modifications what do you mean? Could you maybe give an example of a software mod.

Did you install any non-normal IOS or did you modify the System Menu?

Nope. But thanx for the help anyway, I went out and bought the lens cleaner kit and it works fine now
