Quake 2?

Quake 2?
May 18, 2009 04:55AM
I recently found that a port of quake 2 has been sucessfully ported to the ds. Since quake 2 uses the same engine as quake 1, a port is certainly possible for the wii, and could be extremely easy, or for what all i know, extremely difficult. What do you think? What would be the initial steps for the port? Is it even possible?

Also, i would like to thank Piko for adding network support in Q1, i connected to quake.shmack.net and it worked great with minimal lag. But for how long it took for someone to step up and do that, is anyone even willing to port Q2?

note: my grammer is bad because im on an ipod.

Quake 2's engine is not the same as Quake 1..

but yeah it's extremely possible and I'd be surprised if someone isn't already working on it

hopefully well see a full on port, just like quake 1, with multiplayer functions...

I don't think Quake 3 Arena could be ported, since it most likely needs more memory or something, but are any other games possible with the release of these engines?

I believe some people had Quake 3 working on the Ipod touch, so I think it's possible. Also, Quake 3 is working on Pandora (and that's slower than the Wii, right?).

Actually, iPod (and iPhone) have more memory than Wii. Sad, but true =P
Still, the Q3 engine is actually not that heavy. Porting it sounds feasible.

I understand that they have a larger HDD (ROM), but do they really have more RAM? If not, ROM doesn't matter since we can use external SD(HC) cards and USB Drives.

The iPhone has 128 MB of RAM.
The Wii has 64.

The only reason the tracphone "sucks" is because it can only make calls and send text messages. That's all I need personally. The pricing is great!

Take a peek at your IRC client ;)

Oh, and don't think i'm some 30 year old nerd thats still living with his parents. I'm in the 8th grade. :)
