Modchip question

I don't think this belongs anywhere else, so I'll try here. Are there any modchips that will work with a Wii (got it on release date) with system menu 3.4U? I'm trying to unbrick my wii, and save for sending it in to nintendo, this seems like my only option.

Modchips won't help you now. All they let you do is run DVDs with no media-level encryption.

Well, it's a problem with my system files. I want to be able to boot directly to a recovery disc. That won't work?

I think that would only work on 3.2 or lower...
You could possibly wait until a disc update contains 4.0 and use SaveMii (or a GameCube controller) to autoboot the update.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. Who knows when a game with 4.0 will come out though....Or do I just give up the $75 and send it in to nintendo...

Well Punchout only came with sm3.4. So I'm wondering what's taking them so long..
