1) the main reason Macs don't have viruses is due to aa working security system. Not saying that the popularity doesn't have anything to do with it, it most certainly does, but people tend to overestimate that effect.
2) I don't know what you mean by "Also, although there are less viruses for mac the newer are worse than many of the ones on pc" I have never seen a malicious mac virus in the wild for more than a few days before there's a patch. the BEST I can come up with isn't even really a virus [troika.uk.com]

There was a list on zdnet of viruses which if used could be pretty harsh on the already suffering mac users, and whats the point in a security system if people just cant be assed to program for mac (virus and programs) its more of con for macs than a pro.
And dont make the excuse that virtualising is better on macs as that just proves that macs must be rubbish if you have to virtualise another system to enjoy life
Now lets end this discussion/argument before it gets out of hand

I agree with ending the argument, I just want to make one point about your virtualization comment... I don't virtualize anything...ever, I have no need to, I have a cheap IBM Thinkpad T21 that is barely held together for the off chance that I need a Windows only app... I can count the number of the apps I need on one hand. And I've never, EVER, come across a Mac Virus,it just hasn't happened to me, maybe they are out there, but I haven't seen one

OS X isn't based off Linux, it's based off BSD, which in turn was based off UNIX, similar, but different. Also, my single biggest argument FOR buying a mac, is how long the hardware lasts, my iMac G4 has been through A LOT of crap, including, but not limited to being taken apart by the US Secret Service, and lemme tell you, they do not give a crap if it goes back together correctly. that was about 5 years ago and the computer was already about 2 years old then, and I just had my first hardware failure a week or two ago, the backlight on the monitor burned out, so I have to VNC into it, and it STILL works great. these computers just don't die like I've seen many PCs die

Actually, i only use linux when performance is required over functionality (i reduce the gui to win95 style). Since win95 i have always used windows oses (except for vista, that i hate almost as much as macs).Quote

Perhaps a homebuilt with Windows is perfect for you (or as it seems for you, Linux). It's all a matter of taste, really
