That's dissapointing... I was hoping the M3i Zero would be legal with it's special upgrade method and all.....

its special upgrade method is just a different way to flash the illegal bootloader upgrade.

Again, all DSi flashcards are illegal, and have to be.

The DSi contains a whitelist for original DS games. Any game not on that whitelist, or any game on that whitelist that fails the signature test, will have the well-known error screen that appears when you use original DS-only unlicensed cards. The DSi cards have just enough of some licensed game to match the checksum.

Eventually, there might be some way to add cards to the whitelist. If this can be done through a System Menu exploit (somewhat like bannerbomb), you could make cards that could add themselves to the whitelist, thus not being illegal.

Or just wait for an SD hack and the inevitable HBC for the DSi.

There already is a way to launch unsigned code. With that, SD sector access is possible, and with that, loading homebrew from an SD card.

It requires a DSi-enabled game with a special save file on it, however.

Mind you, you need to write to the EEPROM of the cartridge to get the save on there.

Also, if you've never seen it before, check out scanlime's flickr: [www.flickr.com] (There is a picture of a DSi homebrew channel somewhere in there, but all he did was change the name of flipnote studio in the RAM - so don't get too excited ;) )

Are you sure that you can't just use an AR Max Duo to add the save?

that IS writing to the eeprom. there are several ways to do it, but you can't do it with just a dsi. you need an original ds and homebrew/save managent device or you can buy special devices to transfer saves via pc. or you could take cart apart and flash it.
