USB Loader issues

I'm just not able to get any USB device to be recognized by the Wii USB loader 1.5

I've tried the following:

Sandisk Cruzer 2 Gig Flash Drive
Sandisk Cruzer 8 Gig Flash Drive
PNY 1 Gig Flash Drive
Kingston 4 Gig Data Traveller Flash Drive
400 Gig Seagate HD in Rosewill External Enclosure model # RX35MV-U-BU BLK
40 Gig Western Digital HD in same Rosewill Enclosure

All drives give me the error -1, unable to mount, maybe I'm doing something wrong? I'm using the WBFS in Windows to format the drive.

I've got the Homebrew Channel installed on firmware 3.2U with the USB loader installed and apparently working, but I just can't make it happen.

can anyone help me out, or maybe point me at a know working good external drive perhaps?
