wii LEH 137 will not play any disc

Hi guys , i have just been given a wii , because my friend tried to softmod it and failed badly , now it wont read any discs , it has the hbc on it and a backup launcher , to start with does anyone have any ideas

Are they legitimate discs or "backups"?
