USB - DVD Drives

I love the fact Homebrew has enabled use to use Flash Drives and Hard Disks for apps like Media Centres, awesome for Videos. But, if the homebrew com have enabled USB (And now 2.0) MSC and HardDisk, yet when I think, what prevents people from implementing CD-DVD > USB classes? I mean then it could open up fail on a larger scale and Audio CD support in Media Centres, and overide the Non-DVD compatible drives in newer Wiis.

What prevents this?

1. Read the rules. NO BACKUPS
2. Many different drives = different interfaces = lots of programming to get it all working.
