VBA and FCU cause freezing, have to pull the power cord

I'm running 4.2U firmware with the Home Brew Channel, and I am having occasional freezes across several games within both VBA GX and FCU. Both are the latest versions. I was wondering if this is just a common occurrence that still needs to be worked out, or if possibly, the fact that my SD card is a little old could be the issue? It is a SD brand card, 2 gig, but its probably about 2 years old. Possibly a little more.

I'm also having the same problem with the "VbaGX" on a few games.
