Newbie having problems getting apps to run HBC beta9
October 26, 2008 06:25PM
HI

I had already done the October 23 update before I had discovered HBC. I have now installed HBC beta9. It works fine but so far the only app that runs is Suduko. All of the others including the apss that come in app pak on the HBC site say that it is not a valid WII application. This is the same for the HBC broswer. All of the apps are in the app folder as directed in the readme's. Is this something that I am doing wrong or has it to do with Beta9 or the October 23 update?

It's beta 9. They're forcing most .elf files to be rewritten to a new standard. Just wait and look for an update for each app you want or convert the boot.elf to boot.dol by using this program

Instruction,
1 extract the file to a folder on your desktop with a name like ELF2DOL
2 place the nonworking "boot.elf" into the folder
3 If you're using Windows, open up a command prompt by hold shift and right clicking anywhere in the folder and select "Open command window here"
4 Then type the command (or copy-paste)
powerpc-gekko-objcopy -O binary boot.elf boot.dol
5 Then just delete the boot.elf and place the boot.dol in the SD
6 Repeat 2-5 till all your apps work

I'm having the same problem, and whenever I type in the command it says it's not recognized as a command.

No, you just need to go through your SD card and find the elf files yourself.

I think some(very few) of the .ELFs work; you can try them out in the HBC and it will tell you, "This is not a valid Wii application"

If anyone is still having problems with there .elf files use the ELF to DOL Converter by Yossi.

Half of my apps didn't work but know they do!
