Homebrew Channel Update Failures

So ever since i've basically had the homebrew channel, it doesen't update whenever one is available.

i'm stuck at beta 8, and everytime it says "Would you like to download version 1.0" or v.1.0.1 it starts to download and then says "Download Failed". it doesent everytime and never gives a reason why.

I get a good signal, enough to browse the web and download games/apps. anybody know how i can fix this?

Download the latest HBC on your PC. Make a folder in your apps directory. Place the .dol into the new folder. Run the HBC. Run the new .dol Viola! You've updated without connecting your HBC to the internet!

i'd still like to know why i'm incapable of net updates though =/
