startpatch preloader questions

Ok I am at 4.1 and have my system all fine. I was thinking of running startpatch so I could remove the lock on copying save files to the sd card. I quess startpatch does this. It seems like you need some trucha bug thing which I apparently do not have. My wii has bootmii as ios. Now unless I am mistaken that means I cannot have trucha??? Is this true??? I currently have no backup in case I brick my machine. It looked like preloader would take care of that but it appears the author is not supporting it anymore and there are big warnings on the app that it could brick your wii. What would you all advise I do???

I hope this is not a bad question. I vaguely recall something about trucha being bad but I really have no idea what it is. Just looking for some suggestions on what to do.

Just because you have bootmii installed as an IOS doesn't mean you don't have any trucha IOS.
