Removing Gamecube peripherals during some procedures?

I remembered an old quick question I forgot to ask. When I first used Trucha Bug Restorer, I followed a tutorial that advised against having Gamecube controllers or memory cards plugged in, during the procedure. There was no explanation of why. Is it true? Is there any kind of error that might come from GC stuff plugged in?

Sometimes having GC stuff (and also USB stuff) plugged in when running certain apps causes them to crash randomly, which is usually annoying but acceptable, but in apps like TBR which modify NAND, it can be dangerous. I think its caused by bugs in libogc.

I remember reading about that somewhere, so it's just the same case. I thought it had to do with something specific done by Gamecube peripherals, like savemiifrii. Thanks for making it clear for me.

I don't think so, I think it just randomly causes crashes.
