Wouldn't thebestfastest course of action to take is to install a cIOS with fake signing fix removed then update to keep all the homebrew functionality intact by having all disadvantage howebrew software call it? At least until a proper workaround is found...

Pretty lame, I just got a Wii points card to support WiiWare as a concept. I guess I'll have to wait on using the points until a workaround is found.Quote

Apparently, it doesn't let you access the shop channel unless you have it :(

EDIT @ Arikado
Fakesigning is needed for "tricking" the Wii, making it believe the channel as legit. They use annoying encryption keys, that stuff, installing channels with Shop Channel or homebrew installers is essentially the same thing, but installers use the bug on the encryption method.

Wait, so couldn't we just dump the encryption keys and then use them avoid fakesigning?

I believe it has to do with public key(s) and private key(s) that aren't stored on a wii

So there's no way we could get them? It wouldn't even be possible to write a program that accesses the shop channel and grabs them?

Actually, as I type this, I'm thinking... Surely the Wii's private key must be on the Wii somewhere, if we could find it, it should be possible to recreate the public key. Then anything encrypted with the public key should appear valid to the Wii...

EDIT: LIGHTBULB!!! Couldn't we dump the code of Mario Kart Wii or Wii Fit to see how they install their respective channels without using fakesigned code?

Anyhow, I have an idea! Does the firmware downgrader work? If so, you could run the downgrader with the Twilight Hack and THEN install the homebrew channel, and then re-update it. Does that sound practical?
