how do I find out what preloader has been installed?

I bought a used Wii recently for the downstairs.. They didn't tell me that is was a homebrewed 4.1u... so I need some help. Since I have no experience with these things.

I would like to do updates to the console as suggested by wii brew site to 4.3.. but I can't... I am trying to figure this all out, I have pretty much determined that I have a preloader installed that is preventing me from updating... How do I determine which preloader is install so I can uninstall it.

And I really need to confirm, if I have the newest homebrew channel installed, and then allow the system to software update to 4.3, it isn't going to remove the homebrew channel.. ??

Update to 4.3 isn't necessary for homebrew. you can leave it as it is. If you want to find out what pre/priiloder you have, hold reset while turning on your Wii. The latest homebrew channel will not be removed by system menu 4.3
