I know it's stupid. The Wii Shop Channel only needs IOS 61 to function, but Nintendo want to make sure you've upgraded, so it looks for IOS 70.

I was looking around and saw WiiSCU. Would something like that get the job done as well, or should I just use dop-IOS MOD?

Yes, I think it's what determines the System Menu version (4.2 or below).

You'd think they could make it check the System Menu version, I can't imagine i'd be too hard, there are plenty of homebrew apps that can do it I think. Would make sooooo much more sense than checking for IOS70. They're practically ASKING us not to upgrade.

And yeah I think that it would make sense for it to look for the System Menu version. Lucky it doesn't though, huh?

I know. All it knows to do is check the TMD of the menu.

We could probably patch the TMD though, make it appear to be latest version. Still, it'd make more sense, it would mean developers would have to write new apps for updating Shop Channel.
