can anyone help the complete lost man out?

I was told by a friend about the hobrew channel just a while ago. he said i could download old games on it. Im somewhat interested in it, I'd like to get some good games on my system. I have a few questions though:

1) What kind of games are downloadable? just vc games or gameboy games also? gba? AND Definately, what about ps1 games like rayman and crash?

2) After doing some research, ive inquired that the twilight hack is no longer availible. If i dont want to buy anything, or stuff like that, can i still get homebrew?

3) Where is the easiest walkthrough located?

Thanks.

1) Here is a list of emulators to play old games.
2)Twilight hack DOES still work up to and including sys menu 3.4. Bannerbomb is the alternative that doesn't need any games
3)This is a guide for the TP hack. Ignore the bit titled "Usage and Installation of the Twilight Hack", replacing it with the steps from the bannerbomb site.
