What Wii system version to install homebrew

Being new to all this homebrew for the Wii
I have a 3.3e version Wii
Can I install the homebrew channel on this or do I have to update the firmware I am currently using

Any sysem menu version can be used to install Homebrew. You can update before or after if you want. You don't have to update. Stay away from GBAtemp. and DEFINITELY stay away from cIOScorp.

Yes. A lot of "softmod" guides there have a high chance of wrecking your Wii.

That will install the Homebrew Channel and others. There will be no apps yet.. I will explain how to get apps once you've installed it.
