Newb Question! Will Nintendo Require me to Update inorder to use WiFi?

I play ACCF and RB2 pretty frequently over WiFi, so I was just wondering if Nintendo will require me to do the latest update in order to log onto it's servers to do WiFi. Oh, and if I'll have to update my Shop Channel to redownload some lost VC, WiiWare and RB2 DLC stuff.

I'm pretty sure I won't, since I've been going on WiFi with 4.0 for the past two months, but I figure I should ask anyways just to be safe...

You wont need to update to go online in games, but to access Shop Channel, I believe you need to run WiiSCU and update IOS61 and Shop Channel (doesnt matter that you're on 4.0, do it anyway). Then you will have all benefits of 4.2 update (shop channel, thats it) without the crap it brings (removal of HBC and DVDx under old titles, although this can now be fixed, very risky boot2 update etc.)
