I'm trying to run StartPatch on my Wii. But all i get is an error message. This is what appears onscreen:
ES_init...Done!
ES_identify (as SU)...Error: -1017.
Returning to loader...

Do I need to do something? Did I do something wrong? Plz tell me. I'm using StartPatch 4.0.5 Europe version for SM 4.0.E.

You need to restore the Trucha bug before installing Startpatch. We cannot tell you how to do that here.

Technically, the problem is actually ES_Identify (also known as ES_DiVerify), which is another vulnerability in IOS. You need trucha bug as well, but not just trucha bug. As maniac said, we cant tell you how to restore trucha bug (or ES_Identify), because it is commonly used for piracy, so information given to you could be used for piracy.
