EDIT: new problem
CHECK THIS OUT please--> new problem

When I got hackmii installer to update my HBC, I also tried installing bootmii, but this error showed up and I didn't understand it very well. A "installer.log" file was created on my SD root. At the end of it there is this:
parsing last generation bootmap
found valid boot2 blockmap at block 1 (pos 0x627c0), submap 0, generation 2
found valid boot2 blockmap at block 5 (pos 0xe67c0), submap 0, generation 3

boot2bin @5,0 (blocks=0,1 - bootmii=0)
bootmii@-1,-1
boot2 blocks: 06 05 04 03 02 01 00
boot2bin @5,1 (blocks=6,5 - bootmii=0)
boot2 block layout: 2 2 1 1 1 0 0
Assembling boot2 in RAM

copyright text = 'Copyright 2008,2009 Team Twiizers.'
tmd ends at 0x802884ac, data starts at 0x802884e0
bootmii version = '0.9'
prepare_bootmii: bootmii_check_boot1 failed: -2
The test results are in:

Using IOS versions: Installer: 36, HBC: 37, DVDX: 36

The Homebrew Channel: Can be installed
  DVDX: Can be installed
BootMii: Can only be installed as an IOS
      The installed boot1 version prevents a boot2 install (-2)
I would like to install BootMii as boot2, is it completely impossible?

Nope. Sorry. you're going to have to wait till Beta 3, or even 4

Crap. Thanks for the quick anwser anyways. Im going to try to install it as an IOS, its better that than nothing.

And btw, my wii is LU36~ if that helps with anything.

It will most likely NEVER be possible for you to install as boot2, unless Team Twiizers finds the correct signature for boot2, so they dont need to use the trucha bug.

And no future version will magically put trucha bug back into your boot1, which is required for boot2 install. It is impossible to change boot1, because doing so would change the hash of boot1, and the hash is stored in OTP (One Time Programmable) memory, and if the hash doesnt match the one in OTP, the Wii wont boot, and as the name suggests, OTP can only be programmed once, meaning you cant change boot1. ever.

There will be an alternative: Bootmii as Menu IOS. This is what I was referring to earlier. But this is HELL to code. (not that i'd know :-))

What would be the benefit over Bootmii as an IOS?

Ok, new problem, lol.
I got the hackmii installer beta2 from bootmii's site, in the .rar there was "installer.elf". I renamed it to "boot.elf" and converted it to .dol with "ELF to DOL converter v1.3". When I try to launch it in HBC it says "Invalid wii application".

What should I do?

Installer.elf is one elf you shouldn't convert to a .dol It will run just fine in .elf format

Erm, rly; Because Twiizers seem to be the only people who can properly "make" (compile) their .elfs

xD
Anyways, thanks a lot, I thought I needed to convert it cuz the HBC didn't read .elf anymore.
I'm backing up the NAND as I write.

Thanks to all who helped me :*

Glad to have helped :)

Also, (as evidenced by what you just did) the HBC can still read .elfs, but only ones 'properly compiled'. Most people (like me) just distribute .dols instead :-P
