BOOTMII install options

I am not sure how to install bootmii as a:

Boot2

or

IOS

I want to use boot mii as a preventitive bricking tool.

Get the hackmii installer here and tell it to install bootmii boot2 if possible.

I am confused by that. The readme file indicates:

But there is only a BOOT.ELF file
and the readme says:
Old ELF files were incorrect and will not work. Please use DOL files or
recompile with the latest version of devkitPPC. You can use the following
command to convert a broken ELF file to a DOL file:

powerpc-gekko-objcopy -O binary boot.elf boot.dol

But the thing does not include a elf file so I take it we have to run that? It didn't work. Any pointers to a better step by step set of instructions from a regular wii with nothing installed yet? This setup just crashes when I try to use the super smash brothers hack.

Using Bannerbomb, load the boot.dol file.

You should be able to use the boot.elf. That installer is new enough to work.
