Question about apps

Right so im very new to this (only just started today)
I've just installed the homebrew channel and the super nintendo emulator along with a game, now i can open the homebrew channel and can see the option to chose an app, now whenever i click on a app the whole screen goes black and i have to end up reseting the console. Does anyone have a solution to this?

What Homebrew Channel version?
What SNES9x GX version?
What SD card?

What Homebrew Channel version? 1.0.6
What SNES9x GX version? 4.1.4
What SD card? SD card FAT16 2gb size

Just a generic SD card?
Try formatting it to FAT32.

Try another app.

Ive tried many apps, even the popular homebrew browser will not work.

Try another SD card, as yours may be the problem.

possibly try reinstalling IOS36, its the IOS used to load homebrew apps, and if its missing/broken you will only get a black screen. It would also stop disc games like Super Smash Bros Brawl (I mention it as I know it uses IOS36) working.

To reinstall it the best way would be to insert a recent game disc, and go to the disc channel and if it asks you to update, do so. If it doesn't prompt you to update, this probably isn't the problem.

right, now for some reason if i turn the wii off and leave it for like 5 minutes im able to load one app, although if i exit that app and try to load another it'll just go straight to a black screen, each time i have to turn the wii off and wait to open up a new app.

I was also wondering if someone could help me understand why my snes9x GX is not saving, it just says 'error creating file'
ive got the latest edition 4.1.4

EDIT: fixed my save problem, i forgot i had to put the roms,saves and loads in the root of the SD >.< silly me :P
