Any Region Changer Area Mismatch Error
January 02, 2010 09:36PM
I tried using Any Region Changer to downgarde my Wii to 3.2 but at the top of the page it says I have a "AREA and SYSTEM MENU Mistamatch".
This shouldn't be happning since my settings are all set on the same region. So I try downgrading anyway and it downloads the first fifteen parts and says "installation complete" but then an error occurs and when I go back to system menu to check setings, it's still in 4.2U.

I can't find a solution fo this, can anybody help me?

Here's the solution:
Don't downgrade. Why would you want to?

What he's saying is there's no reason to downgrade because pretty much anything can work on higher system menus as well

True.

The only thing you need is the Trucha bug in IOS36, which you can add to a system running 4.2 with Dop-IOS MOD or the Trucha Bug Restorer.

The System Menu is just a program and doesn't matter all that much.

I just want to downgarde to 3.2 because thats the most recommended by Team Twiizers to utilize homebrew applications.

It is.

However, Twiizers does not recommend downgrading.

Adding the Trucha bug back into IOS36 on 4.2 gives you all of the advantages of 3.2 anyway, as I have said.

Team Twiizers doesn't recommend any system menu over another, it's just that 3.2 has the trucha bug without patched IOSes. But like WiiFSX said, you can get that on 4.2 by using Dop-IOS or TBR.

EDIT: Typo

Ok thanks maybe I'll try adding the Trucha bug to 4.2 later so I can have the advantagesof 3.2 as you said.

But for now, I just want to find asimple way to downgrade since I have everything ready. I just don't understand why I'm gettig the AREA and SYSTEM MENU rematch and want to know how to fix the problem.

It's because AnyRegion Changer was made before 4.0+ system menus so it can't detect them correctly.

Which means that I can't downgrade because I had already updated to 4.2?

I'm honestly not sure.. I have heard that it does still work if you do it right but I'm not sure about that.

You really should just forget about downgrading and use TBR. Its safer.

Downgrading = teh fail. It is VERY dangerous and completely pointless. A patched IOS or two gives you all the benefits of 3.2 on 4.2, so what's the point in losing official functionality?

Ah whatever, I already made a complete backup of my Wii using BootMii as a boot2, so if anything gets messed up, i'll just use the backup.
So how do I add the Trucha Bug to my 4.2? Also, are any of these things I'm doing to my Wii reversible? You know, just in case I have to destroy every piece of evidence that I ever used homebrew on my Wii someday.

Yes, you can just use Dop-IOS to install unpatched IOSes over the patched ones

I'm not exactly sure how you'd go about doing it, but yes, I believe you can "destroy the evidence." :P

I downloaded Dop-IOS to the SD and loaded up HBC. The application did show up but when I try to use it, the screen just goes black and the Wii freezes.

Are you using Dop-IOS MOD? You need to be using that.

I just put Dop-IOS MOD into my SD card and loaded it up on HBC. Now it gives me two options: Downloading IO60, or downloading IOSes that can install fakesigning. Which do I pick?
