Problems getting started...

Hi...

I'm trying to install the homebrew channel on my Wii.

I have firmware 4.2E

Following the instructions, I seem to have the correct version of bannerbomb for my hardware, I am using the current hackmii installer on your site 0.6 beta 4.

I am using a newly formatted 256MB sd card, with just the boot.elf and private directory.
I have also retried on a different 1gb sd card with the same results.

I get the banner screen wanring me not to pay for the software, then this disapears, another banner appears with a similar message (for about half a second), then black screen, and the blue disk led flashes on and off.

No log file gets written to the sd card.

Am I doing something wrong, or do I just need to wait for a new revision of the software?

Sounds like the hackmii installer is crashing on you.

You could try using bannerbomb to boot loadmii and using loadmii to boot the hackmii installer.

OK, I tried Loadmii, which worked.

On the SD card, I put the boot.elf (Hackmii image) in a directory called apps.

I selected this with Loadmii, and got the following text on the TV...

Format : ELF

The the DVD blue led started flashing on and off, and is still doing so (after 15 minutes), so I guess it isn't going to do anything...

I used a brand new Verbatim 8gb SD card (Class 6)
