Pal and NTSC

could you educate me on this? so could i use a PAL game on a korean or japanese wii? is there a region restrictions in wii games? is there a homebrew that can overcome this? i mean unlock the region so any wii can play any wii games of any region? what are the region code of wii?

Using Gecko, you can do all of that.

PAL is the European video standard. NTSC is Japanese, American, and is used in most other places, I think all on the Wii.

Gecko can play games (and, with a Trucha-bugged IOS, channels) from other regions, force them to run in NTSC or PAL mode, and do cheats.

Help! I've got a Japanese Wii on NTSC-J and am trying to play European PAL games. Tried forcing the PAL option using Gecko but always ends up stalling when it reads the drive. Anyone with any advice on this? Direction to any tutorials out there would be good. Getting nowhere myself.

What is the game? Is it a legitimate copy?

Yeah. All legit. Tried several with no joy.

I've never used Gecko OS for playing region locked games, so I could be wrong, but don't you have the option to force either PAL50 or PAL60? Have you tried both?

Tried all sorts of options. PAL 60 comes up with 'Error: No DVD Found' and PAL 50 stalls the drive with message 'Reading DVD stats..'

Should probably mention that I'm using v1.9.

Are you having any problems launching the games that match your region?

No. Got a stack that all launch fine.

Get the latest version and try again.

Been trying everything. Installing, uninstalling, formatted system memory. All without joy. Same issues as above. Must be missing something somewhere or have picked up some bug from somewhere. Although discs I have still all play fine.

It may just not work, then.
