How will I know if I can install boot2 on my system? Will the option not come up if I have to go with bootmii ios? Yes it is a new Wii serial is LU40. I do have 4.2.

If it's a brand new Wii, it won't work.

If the Hackmii installer says that Bootmii can be installed, it can be installed as boot2. If it says that it can only be installed as IOS, it can't be installed as boot2.
