WiiSCU questions

I was planning on getting more Wii points before Saturday for a monthly gaming exhibition with my Wii and Dreamcast, but don't want to update to risk losing Homebrew Channel. I heard a lot about WiiSCU to update the shop channel to allow the newest Shop Channel build to work on 4.2 A few questions

1. My Wii only has HBC (No BootMii as IOS or Trucha). Do I need to do anything before using WiiSCU?
2. Is it safe?
3. What exactly do I do with it?

2) Yes
3) If you only want to update the shop channel, select yes to update the shop channel and no to everything else. If you use WiiSCU v0.24, you must have it install shop channel v19. V0.21 and v0.22 will automatically download the correct version.

Is there any kind of IOS I should update as well? I am using WiiSCU v0.21

Since you already have 4.2, you also already have all necessary IOSes.

EDIT: Ok, from my nerves up to the point where I almost puked in anticipation (and from the text on the screen flashing white, green, and purple), the update's done. It took a little lag booting up the channel page with the shop channel on it, but I now have HBC and Wii Shop.
