Can the Twilight / HBC hack ruin my online account?

I have read (and gather) that those who get their accounts banned are simply cheating at games. I'm not intersted in cheating, only backing up my games incase of scratches (Kids will be kids).

My concern is that if I commit to this, can or will Wii ban me from using their online services?

there is no way for Nintendo to see if your using the actual copy of the game or a backup. you can only be banned if you get caught cheating...
