Nand backup

Is it possible to make a Nand backup on a new virgin Wii before installing anything at all? Am brand new to this, but so far it seems only way to make a backup is after having installed something like Hackmii.

Is there a way to go directly from something like the new LetterBomb exploit directly into a Nand save / restore application? This would allow the save of a completely pristine image and restore it too.

There is a way to do it, but there currently isn't a publically released app that does so.
