Wii update

Hi guys

I got a wii with 4.0e on it and decided I needed to update so I formatted the wii system which removed home brew and bootmii (I think)

I now have a wii with no hombrew that wont update either

How can I update can I use a disc if so which one.....

My end goal is hombrew on 4.3

Clearly you installed some patch to block updates. Try holding the reset button while turning on the wii to access priiloader if it is installed and if so disable all system menu hacks then try the update again.

Fyi, you didn't need to remove HBC and you definitely didn't need to format (that's never necessary)

Turns out I have priiloader but cannot see any of the system menu hacks as hacks.ini is not on the NAND, i have a NAND backup should I restore it? Or what's the procedure

Hmm, strange. When is the backup from? i.e. was it before you installed priiloader? Also not that if you restore a backup you will lose any VC or WW games installed since making the backup and any save game progress made.

Also, why do you think you need to update? There is really NO benefit to being on a more up to date SM.
