Upgrading from 4.2E
April 09, 2012 04:45AM
Hi. I have been out of the Wii and SoftModding game for a while now, so I just need some clarification (I have not been able to find my answer through various searches). I realise this is a noob question, so I apologise in advance.

My Wii is currently on 4.2E. I wish to update it. The Wiibrew website says
Quote:
WiiBrew recommends that you run the latest version of the HackMii Installer and then optionally update your Wii to 4.3 using Nintendo's official updater.

I have BootMii V. 1.4 (Just updated through the HBC, so I assume this is the newest version).
So, if I update through the official updater now, my Wii won't brick? Are there any other precautions I should take? Its been so long that I don't know if I have any CIOS' installed or what not; I would assume these are not good for the update procedure, so, if this is the case, what is the best way of detecting what I have installed and removing them.

Any assistance you can provide is much appreciated.
Sincere regards,
Ryan

You could run SysCheck to see what's installed on your Wii, but you should have no problems just using the official updater.
